Hi. My name is Danuta; I’m originally from Poland, but I have been living in Ireland for over 17 years, and I have been teaching English for over ten years.
I want to share with you my story about my English language teaching experience.
I started learning English in high school in Poland; then, I continued my English studies at university. Despite lots of time spent learning English vocabulary and grammar, I had the impression that my studies were too bookish and that I still had problems communicating in the language.
It was then that I came across the Callan Method School. Finally, I felt that this was what I was looking for, that I was finally learning to speak and understand English and not just doing tests and taking English exams.
Another thing I really liked about the Callan Method was that my mistakes were corrected by the teacher, which was really good because I didn’t experience that in normal classes.
I was a rather shy kind of person, and there in the course, I had a chance to overcome my shyness because the teacher constantly asked me questions, and I had to answer them with his assistance. That was really helpful and very effective!
Soon after, I left Poland for Ireland. I quickly discovered how effective and efficient the Callan Method is! Unlike my fellow Poles or other Eastern European friends who, after learning English with the traditional method at school in their home countries, were utterly unable to communicate in English, I spoke easily with the Irish people and quickly found a good job. It was possible because I was taught English with the Callan Method (read more about the Callan Method here: Learn English 4xFASTER).
However, I knew that it was just the beginning of my career in Ireland and that I wanted to do something more. Many friends who couldn’t speak English often asked me to accompany them to different institutions and help them communicate their matters. I found that very rewarding and enjoyable, so I started interpreting professionally.
I went back to university and finished two years of postgraduate studies “Legal and business translations – English” I started working for Irish courts and the police as a Polish interpreter. I felt great when people thanked me for helping them communicate with their solicitors, doctors or other officials. I had been working for a few years when I decided that I could do more than interpret; I felt that I could help immigrants in Ireland communicate in English without an interpreter!
So in 2014, with a friend of mine who was also passionate about English, we decided to set up an English school for foreign people and teach them English with the Callan Method. There was a large community of immigrants living and working in the area where we lived, Dublin 15 so we founded Easy English Dublin 15 school to respond to the growing demand for language institutions in the area. In 2017 my friend left Ireland, and I have been running and developing the school on my own since.
I continuously teach with the Callan Method, and the Easy English Dublin school has received accreditation from the Callan Method Organisation. The Callan Method Organisation only works with Callan Accredited Schools, Callan Online Partners or Callan Registered Teachers.
I love my job, especially helping students:
- to become proficient in spoken English in as short a time as possible, which can be achieved via the world-famous Callan Method,
- integrate within their community, build their confidence and break all language barriers,
- find a dream job, get promoted and develop language fluency to benefit their career.
